Yes. Student data is protected at every step. Before any question is processed by AI, student names and IDs are removed — the AI never sees real student information. Also, both the AI and educators can only access students on their own caseload, and every action in the system is permission-controlled through role-based access control.

Tandem uses trusted third-party services to operate—including cloud storage, authentication, and AI processing—all under strict data agreements. Critically, AI providers never receive real student names or IDs; only anonymized content is sent for processing. Student documents are stored securely in encrypted cloud storage. We do not sell or share student data for advertising or any purpose outside of providing the Tandem service.
