A Note from Tandem’s Founders
To the educators, the administrators, and the families who hold it all together:
Special Education is the most complex, high-stakes, and human centered part of any school district. When it works, it changes lives. When it doesn’t, it’s not due to a lack of heart; it’s the tools that are too often lacking.
We didn’t build Tandem because we wanted to “disrupt” education with AI. We built it because we were tired of watching brilliant educators drown in 40-page PDFs while the students they serve wait for the support they were promised.
As a parent of a child with an IEP, I know the weight of that document. As a former Principal, I know the stress of a $100k settlement. I saw a system where compliance was a game of “gotcha” rather than a system of support. Tandem is the tool I wish I had in my office and the transparency I’ll always want as a parent.
Technology should bridge gaps, not create them. My time working with SPED students taught me that context is everything; without context, chasms are created that are almost impossible to cross. When the speech pathologist, the teacher, and the admin all have different pieces of the story without understanding the whole narrative, it’s the student who gets lost . We built Tandem to work as the “shared brain” of the IEP team, taking the data out of silos, giving insights to every contributing team member, and making sure you can put systems to work for every child.
We want to give you back the hours spent on spreadsheets, form fields, and emails so that you can spend that precious time where you need it most - on students. We are building this in tandem with you, to work like you do, because you’re doing the most important work in the world.
